Everything You Wanted to Know About Film Photography But Were Afraid to Ask
Session 1: Saturday July 26, 2025. 10am-2pm. At Underdog Film Lab, 1625 16th Street, Oakland, CA
Session 2: Saturday August 9, 2025. 10am-12pm. At Underdog Film Lab, 1625 16th Street, Oakland, CA
Everything You Wanted to Know About Film Photography But Were Afraid to Ask is a beginner-friendly workshop for anyone curious about shooting film but intimidated by the jargon, the gear, or the fear of loading a roll backwards. We’ll cover the basics—cameras, film stocks, exposure, and even what to say when someone asks if it’s “vintage.” You’ll leave knowing how to meter, shoot, and actually get photos you’re proud of.
In the first class you’ll learn all the foundational stuff that will get you going: what is exposure/iso/f-stop/etc. (We will not be covering how to develop film.)
In the second class we’ll workshop your shots and evaluate how you’ve applied what you learned.
As an added bonus, you’ll get one free roll of film (color or black and white—your choice) as well as free developing and digital scans—a $30 value.
Don’t delay—space is strictly limited to 10 folks to create the best experience.
Discover why film has made such a comeback and why it’s so much fun. Bring your curiosity, your questions, and of course your camera.
